Tumbleweeds get bigger and bigger as they continue rolling, so long as the wind keeps blowing, it will keep rolling and picking up more and more earth and grow. That’s how I view love. Love can start off super small with just a small interest in a person, or a lustful attraction, but when it’s continuously fanned, it will continue to roll and grow. It will grow as it picks up memories, shared experiences, interests, passionate love making sessions, holidays, other family members, maybe even children. This love tumbleweed over time will become this monstrous entity that you will hopefully one day be able to visualize and refer to during the rough times and remember “whoa that’s a big ass tumbleweed that I made, I think I’ll keep that.” Same goes for those foil balls from Peewee’s Playhouse. He collected tiny pieces and over time had this ridiculously huge ball of foil, lol.
That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 13 years. I started a relationship with a young man who offered me a tiny tumbleweed, or love 🙂 I grabbed his hand and accepted this challenge and we both began fanning and blowing this thing called love and watched it pick up pieces. It picked up numerous movie date nights, a few breakfast buffets and iHop visits, tons of laughter and goofiness (that’s majority of it), adventures in Japan, Singapore, Korea, Hawaii and other spots we laid our heads together. We also had a gang of family members that in their support of our love, helped blow this tumbleweed along as well. They gave this joker even more momentum and at times when we felt we were out of breath, or our arms grew tired of fanning it, well, we had our siblings, parents, Aunts and Uncles there to give a good gust of wind for us.
Now I’ve accumulated a lot of memories, two children, and a bunch of life experiences. I guess I’m reflecting on all of this because it’s Valentines day. This Valentines day (along with many others) I spend alone, without him physically next to me, but ingrained in my heart, monogrammed in my soul, and etched on my precious, big-head children. To all the young folks out there, be on the look out for that goofy guy or gal carrying a tiny tumble weed in their pocket instead of a car with rims, thick chains or rubber band rolls (of singles). Those don’t grow with the wind, they just blow away.

I love this Nette and I love you, Elvin, Stephan and Ethan! I have loved you since Mama’s fish dreams confirmed your Mother’s pregnancy and I have loved Elvin since I got the 411 from Arlene about the nice Puerto Rican you were dating. Your engagement party was really our first Family Reunion and Elvin fit right in. I love that he loves the Patriots and I love the Steelers but we both love football. Your Wedding Of The Century brought our beautuful families together. The Boriqua contingent was in full effect and we could see their love for Elvin and you. Your Love Tumbleweed wil always grow and be in motion propelled by memories and breaths of love from Heaven and Earth!
Wow! Yes and thank you aunt BRENDA. Your support of us has always been a big gust of wind in helping this tumbleweed tumble. You have embraced and encouraged our relationship from day one and we are definitely stronger because of you. Thank you and we love you so much.
