Luckily, some of the best juices don’t require appliances, machines or even electricity. Just your hands and something to catch it in. One of those juices is the grapefruit (second to orange).
I’m reminiscing today and giving thanks for all that my Father did for me, my family and the country while he was walking this earth. He went without electricity, flooring, socks, even a bed at a particular period… he did not always have the luxury of drinking fresh juices that would feed his body plant-based minerals and vitamins, but when we were children, he made sure there were always plants, fruits and veggies around. How crazy is it that this divine being did not have the luxury to enjoy something that his body actually deserved! Everyone deserves fresh juice and to eat the fruit that nature made. These plants, fruits and herbs are a part of this earth and are here to nourish and heal us…we should all be able to enjoy them freely. But that would be crazy right? Like clean, alkaline drinking water for free–how dare I dream such a thing?
The Grapefruit is put on an acidic pedestal for it’s detoxing benefits, vitamin C and fat burning magic claims. This fruit is not a part of the Dr. Sebi nutritional guide, but I still indulge because I really enjoy the tart bite. According to some reading, the grapefruit is thanks to accidental (natural) cross pollination (eh, I don’t know). It’s a crazy world we live in where we have to sort through foods (acid/alkaline, hybrid/ GMO). Should these hybrid and processed foods even be in existence? I’m obviously doing too much thinking during squeezing this plump, citrus fruit.
So next time you are picking and choosing your fresh produce to juice, bite, slice or purée, and weed through ph balances and whether it’s a hybrid, GMO or FPO AE (??) remember how blessed you are to do so. Many people from generations past did not get to do so as often as we can, if at all. Keep that same gratitude in mind next time you’re thinking about eating crap, glazed with tasty MSG. Remember that you are worth more than that and to take advantage of the blessing of fresh produce, if not for you, for the generations before you who would have loved to…Cheers to the ancestors!
Happy Pressing 🙂
P.S. Don’t be too hard on yourself (like me)…everyone has cheat days
I made grapefruit juice a few months ago. It was great!
YAY!
